The Hertfordshire 1 quartet of Pauline Taylor, Mary Chadd, Alan Spicer and Brian McGivern won all three of their qualifying group games to top their group and progress to the main knockout phase.  Their day ended with a defeat to Suffolk 2 in the last 16.

Hertfordshire 2 (Marion Cooper, Margaret Hare, Sam Salmon and Alan Hare) didn't fare as well and were beaten in the first round of the Plate competition by North Yorkshire.
