The 2018-2019 season of the Barnet League opened at a new venue, on new mats and with a lot of new team names.
In Division 1 both Greenwood Park teams were in action.
Greenwood Hawks met Harpenden Nightjars in a thriller. The lead changed hands several times and the two sides were locked together at 10-10 with 4 ends to play. The Hawks went ahead with a 3 and the Nightjars hit back with 5 shots in 2 ends. On the last end the Hawks scored a single but the Nightjars had held on for the win 15-14.
The Greenwood Goshawks took on Letchworth Lions in another game that was tied 10-10 after 11 ends. The Lions finished the stronger of the two sides running out 19-10 winners.
In Division 2 it was a case of Cuffley v Shillington in both games and Shillington twice got the better of their opponents.
Cuffley Gin and Shillington Black were level at 4-4 and 6-6 before Black scored a decisive 3 shot count. The two teams exchanged shots for the remainder of the game and Shillington retained their lead to finish 14-11 ahead.
Cuffley Tonic and Shillington White was a similar encounter. 6-6 after 8 ends, the Cuffley team had a couple of big ends (a 3 and a 4) to lead 13-8. Shillington White fought back, winning the last 3 ends and winning 15-13.
