Barnet league Week eight.

07 Dec 2021

Hello to all you Barnet League followers. Week eight and like last week there was only one game in the first division with two being played in the second.

Division 1

Shillington Black played Greenwood Peckers. Black got off to a good start taking two singles. Peckers now got going taking a four followed by a single and a three to go 8 – 2 up after five ends. Blacks now struck back taking a double. Peckers then got a single, but with Blacks now taking a four they had narrowed Peckers lead to one shot at 9 – 8. Peckers now got in for another single, Blacks replied taking a double and levelling the game at 10 all after ten ends. Peckers now repeated their earlier success taking another sequence of a four followed by a single and a three to regain the lead at 18 – 10 with two ends to play. Blacks now finished by taking a single followed by a three but the game had been won by Peckers. 18 – 14.

Although they lost Shillington Black remain at the top of division one with Shillington White hanging on to second place. With Whites playing Peckers next week can Shillington maintain their dominance at the top of the table. Watch this space.

Division 2

Greenwood Eagles played Greenwood Hawks. Hawks rose above the Eagles taking the first three ends for two doubles and a single. Eagles then gained height taking a single and a double to narrow Hawks lead to 5- 3 after five ends. Hawks came back taking a further single but with Eagles flying upwards they took a triple to level the game at six all after seven ends. Hawks now climbed upwards taking a double and two singles, Eagles now flapped upwards taking a single and a double. After twelve ends Hawks had a small height advantage of 10 – 9. Hawks then soared away taking a single, a five and a triple to rise well above their nest mates winning 19 – 9.

St Margaret’s Wizards played Cuffley Tonic. Tonic started the evening with a single. Wizards not to be outdone, upped the stakes and went straight in for a triple. The next three ends saw the singles being passed back and forth and by end five Wizards remained upright at 4 – 3. Both teams now valiantly downed a triple. With Wizards struggling to keep up, Tonic now managed a further triple and a double before taking a short rest. With Wizards revived they had a double but then lost their magic with Tonic having a further double and triple to go 16 – 9 up with three more rounds to go. Wizards got to the bar first taking a valiant double however, Tonic dug in and for the first time in the evening managed a quadruple. Wizards finished the evening off with a final single. The evenings tally showed that Tonic had yet again won their match with the score 20 – 12.

Cuffley Tonic maintaining their unbeaten record look quite strong at the top of the table. Shillington Red are in second place but the teams below are quite close. With Tonic taking on the Hawks next week anything could happen.
