Barnet League Week 7

    Week 7

 The Barnet League continues with four games being played this week.

Division One

Letchworth Tigers team of Mick, Margaret and David G played Greenwood Hawks Dennis, Bill and Brian Mc. Tigers took the first end for a single to which Hawks reply was to take a triple. Tigers immediately came back by taking a single, followed by a four and a 6 – 3 lead after four ends. Hawks then started a run taking two singles and a double to regain the lead at 7 – 6 after seven ends. It was short lived, as Tigers regained the lead with a double. Hawks then ramped it up, taking a five followed by a double and a four, they had a good lead at 18 – 8 after eleven ends. End twelve saw Tigers come back for a single. However, taking the last three ends for singles, Hawks had a good win at 19 – 9.

The Northiam East team of Mike, Jan and Martin played Greenwood Peckers Penny, Brian F and Mark. Peckers started well taking a double and a single. End three saw East take a double. However, coming straight back for a single followed by a three, Peckers increased their lead to 7 – 2 after five ends. East then started a run, taking two singles and a double, followed by a fantastic five, they pulled in front with a score of 11 – 7 after nine ends. End ten saw Peckers take a four to level the game. They followed this with two singles and a double to go 15 – 11 up with two ends to play. The penultimate end saw East reduce their deficit to two shots by taking a double. Being two shots down going into the last end, East held a four and took the win at 17 – 15.

Division Two

Mat two held a Letchworth derby, the Lions team of Sue, Andy and Alan S played the Pumas team of Andrew, Alan H and Alexis. First blood went to Pumas as they took the first two ends for singles. End three saw Lions get going taking a single. Pumas then came back, taking a double. With Lions taking end five for their own double, Pumas had a one shot lead at 4 – 3. In this close match the following two ends went for a single apiece. Pumas then ramped up their game, taking a double and a single, increasing their lead to 8 – 4 after nine ends. Lions then started a small run, taking two singles followed by a double, making it level at 8 all after twelve ends. End thirteen saw Lions edge into the lead taking a single. On the penultimate end Pumas took the lead back by taking a double. Going into the last end one shot down Lions held the last end for a double and the win at 11 – 10.

 

Division two leaders Shillington Red’s Tom, Carol and Neil played St Margaret’s Wizards Jim, Brian and Tony. Wizards started by taking the first end for a single. Reds reply was to start a run of ends, taking two doubles, a triple and a single, they had an 8 – 1 lead after five ends. Wizards then held end six for a double. Reds maintained their seven shot lead, by matching it with a double of their own. Ends eight and nine went for a single apiece. Reds then extended their lead taking a single on end ten to go 12 – 4 up. Wizards improved their position taking end eleven for a double. Reds then took a single but with Wizards taking a further double followed by a single, they had reduced Reds lead to 13 – 9 with one end to play. The last end saw Reds come back taking a final double and the win at 15 – 9.

 

We are now seven weeks into this season’s competition. Greenwood Hawks have moved up the table to second place just below their teammates Peckers, who despite their loss, retain the top spot on shot difference. Shillington Red with yet another win, are now the only team to have won every game and are currently glued to the top spot in division two.
