The Three of Herts

Margaret Regan with Tony and Jeanette Gayler carried off the County Triples Championship in a fiercely competitive competition.

With eight teams taking part the playing format was set as a round robin with each team playing seven 7 end games.  With all of the games completed, four teams had each scored 10 points but the winners had a significantly better shots difference.  The second and third placed teams were equal on shots difference and could only be separated on a countback of ends won.  The runners up were Pauline Taylor, Brian McGivern and Darren Stanford who won two more ends than third placed Audrey Fowler, Jill Oakes and Brian Fowler.  Fourth place went to Marion Cooper, Sam Salmon and Alan Hare.

The winners will represent Hertfordshire in the National Finals in April and the runners up are likely to join them.  Places are allocated to counties at the Nationals based on the number of entries in their qualifying competition.  In some previous years Hertfordshire has had three representatives in the National Triples.
