HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY
SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION
Shillington Short Mat Bowls Club was established in 2008 with two carpets and equipment supplied on loan from Mid Bedfordshire District Council. Improvements to the village hall floor levels enabled a third carpet to be purchased. After changes to Council policy the equipment ownership was transferred to our club. We were originally affiliated to Northants Short Mat Bowls Association under the ESMBA, Shillington Club changed affiliation to Hertfordshire (HCSMBA) in 2017. Club Members participate in the Barnet League, The Beds and Herts League as well as our own In House Triples League and Annual Singles, Pairs, Triples and Rinks (fours) Competitions. Members can also enter County and National Competitions as well as Charity Events and Friendly Competitions with clubs in the surrounding area. Experienced members provide support and guidance for new and developing players and members can join in with regular County playing and learning activities at the County venues in Hatfield and Stevenage.
