ABOUT GREENWOOD PARK

Greenwood Park Short Mat Bowls Club was formed in 1992 when the community centre was opened. At the first meeting four mats were provided and six weeks of tuition followed to get the club established.

Dennis and Marie Rowson were on the founding committee and played an important role in getting the Club off the ground.

Since those early days membership has remained fairly stable at around sixty.

Play takes place on up to six mats on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Friday evenings throughout the year. Annual competitions are held for Singles, Pairs and Triples Cups plus a Millennium Cup. There are occasional Ladies v Gents and charity games as well as matches against other clubs both home and away. Greenwood Park enters teams in the county wide Barnet League and we have a number of members who represent Hertfordshire in inter-county matches. The club has had considerable success in the Hertfordshire County competitions (check out our Honours Board).

We also have outings throughout the year which any member can attend.

Members from the club play in competitions held several times a year at Potters Resort Norfolk, Dawlish and Bembridge I.O.W.
