ABOUT LETCHWORTH

Letchworth Short Mat Bowls Club was formed in 1996 with a grant from the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.

In 1999 the club affiliated to the English Short Mat Bowling Association and was a founder member of the Hertfordshire County Short Mat Association.

The club plays 2 days each week, with opportunities to play in galas and charity events at other venues through the year.  The initial membership fee (first year only) is £25 which includes a £5 joining fee (including rule book) and £20 annual subscription thereafter.  Subscription fee includes ESMBA registration and insurance. Club meeting fees are £4 per session.

The club holds competitions with trophies for the finalists in the Singles and Pairs events as well as the Dick Staines Cup (spoon drive) and the target bowls event.

For players wanting to test themselves in external competitions, Letchworth enters teams in the Barnet League and the Beds and Herts League. Members can also enter county and national competitions.
