2017-2018 SEASON SUMMARY
Hertfordshire qualified for the ICC Division A Main Knockout competition and made it to the quarter final stage, beating a strong Hampshire side before coming up against the Somerset juggernaut. Somerset went on to lose in the final to Devon.
Winning all three home matches, Hertfordshire came very close to topping the qualifying group, missing out by just 3 points.
The opening match of the campaign was an away fixture against Buckinghamshire. The Bucks are always tough to beat at home but Herts came very close with a 19-21 final score.
Another away match followed at Daventry and resulted in a 20-20 draw against Northamptonshire.
The first home match at Elm Court was with group newcomers Oxfordshire. Hertfordshire made home advantage pay with a 29-11 win.
The return fixture against Northamptonshire was won by 25-15.
The penultimate group match was a visit to Oxford and Hertfordshire came away with 18 points to set up a top spot decider against Buckinghamshire.
Bucks carried a points advantage into the final match at Elm Court, with Herts needing to score 25 points to finish as group leaders. Herts missed out by only one game win.
To qualify for the main phase is a major achievement for Hertfordshire and all players should feel proud to have borne the green shirt through to the senior competition.
