Hertfordshire County Short Mat Bowling Association News story

Annual General Meeting News

24 Apr 2016

After several years as Chairperson of the Hertfordshire Short Mat Bowling Association Eileen Prior is standing down from the position.  All present applauded her contribution and she was presented with a garden shrub to commemorate her service.  Margaret Regan will succeed Eileen in the Chair.

Following the committee members' reports a discussion took place regarding the format of the Barnet League for the forthcoming season.  The introduction of playoffs for 2015-16 was not universally popular and there are likely to be changes.  The exact format will depend on the number of teams entering the league.  Rebecca will inform all clubs of the league structure once the numbers are confirmed but current favourite is two divisions with promotion and relegation.

A lively debate was conducted regarding the proposal to change the colour of county shirts to blue and white in line with the county flag.  The consensus, confirmed by a show of hands, was to retain the current green shirts which are regarded as distinctive and smart.  The only change to be considered is the introduction of a count badge instead of the current wording.

AGE UK was proposed and accepted as the 2016-17 season charity to be supported by the annual charity event in August.

The AGM was followed by a friendly spoon drive which was won by Marion Cooper of Letchworth.

Finally prizes were presented to the top 3 teams in the Barnet League and to all county competition winners and runners up.
