Hertfordshire's Inter County Championship season came to an abrupt halt at the quarter final stage of the Consolation Plate with a 13-27 defeat at the hands of Stockport Metro.

Point scorers for Herts were Michael West in the singles (4), Alan Hare in the singles (1), Pauline Taylor and Darren Stanford in the pairs (2), Jill Oakes, Audrey Fowler, Brian McGivern in the Triples (4), Adrianne West, Margaret Hare, John Taylor and Bill Gearing in the fours (2).

The opening session of play was Herts' best and they briefly held the lead at 5 points to 3.  After the second session, the match was still close at 7-9 but a disappointing third session left the county's triples and fours representatives needing a clean sweep in the final games.
