Northants 20 Herts 20

08 Oct 2017

The latest ICC qualifying group match away to Northants ended in a 20-20 tied result with Herts outscoring Northants on shots by 205-200.

The opening session of play went well again with both singles (Michael West and Alan Spicer) winning and Pauline Taylor and Alan Hare securing a comfortable victory.

In Session 2 Peter Griffiths, Jill Oakes and Eileen Prior won 16-7 after leading at one point 16-0.  The other triple went down heavily.  The fours saw two debutants take to the mats.  Bill Durham along with Trevor Tharby were playing their first county games partnered with Sam Salmon and Brian Fowler.  They finished just behind their opposition at 9-11.  The other four of Marion Cooper, Brian Hatherly, John Taylor and Bill Gearing finished strongly to win 12-7 and the Session 2 points were shared.

Session 3 was a reverse of the opener with a single game win from Michael West.  Cherry and Ted Nolan together with four end substitute Jeff Branch came very close at 13-14.  The singles took their bonus points.

In the final session Peter Griffiths' triple won again and Adrianne West, Brian McGivern and Mary Chadd came back after a disappointing morning to win 25-7 including a maximum 6 shot end.  Both fours lost but with Brian Fowler's quartet nearly pulling off a win, going down 9-11.

Next up for Hertfordshire is a home match at Elm Court against Oxfordshire on 22nd October.
