At the end of March we advised you that our website service providers (hitssports) were upgrading their service.  This was to make the website adaptive to your preferred viewing device.  That's a fancy way of saying that things now move around on the page in a way which makes them easier to view on PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.

You may have thought that not much has happened since and we have received comments that "not much is going on with the website".  Well, now we can reveal what we've been up to in the meantime.

We have been busy updating many of our webpages to make sure that they perform as expected in this multi-platform world.  The timing wasn't helped by a major server failure at hitssports which wiped out a month's work.

One of the main changes is that the side menu has now disappeared.  It wasn't visible anyway on some tablet orientations and on smartphones so we have put everything in the top menu bar.  The menu bar itself responds to the device and some of the items you want may not be immediately visible.  But don't despair!  If you are looking for something and can't find it take a look under the hamburger menu.  Yes, some technical whiz with a brain the size of a planet thinks those three horizontal bars in the top right hand corner look like a hamburger.

The home page design has completely changed.  We are sorry that we can no longer stick all the things you are really interested in on a single page but you are never more than a click or a tap away from what you want.  And we've tried to make it easier by making many of the home page images links to the relevant pages.  Anyway, just think of the extra calories you'll burn by clicking and tapping.

If you've never visited the Hertfordshire County Short Mat Bowling Association website, please take a look at hcsmba.hitssports.com.  You don't have to log in to see the majority of the pages, only if you want to update your profile or match availability.  If you don't know your login, just hit Forgot Password and we'll send your login details.  The first time you log in you will probably be asked to change your password to make it more secure.

Our work is not done.  Whilst we have modified all of the pages that are current we still need to work our way through the historic pages.
