In Division 1 Northiam East have taken an early lead in the league table with a 13-9 win over Letchworth Lions. The early ends were close before Northiam won 3 in succession to lead 7-3. With both sides trading shots equally for the remainder of the game, Northiam maintained their edge. The Greenwood Hawks v St Margaret's 1 game was close throughout. Level at 4-4 and again at 6-6, Greenwood scored 5 shots in two ends before St Margaret's replied with 6 shots in the next three to lead 12-11 with three ends to play. The Hawks took all three of those ends to finish 17-12 ahead.
In Division 2 both Shillington teams were in action and both lost close matches. Shillington White and St Margaret's 2 were locked together at 8-8 after 8 ends. White took the lead briefly before the decisive run of 5 shots in four ends gave St Margaret's the advantage. Singles for each side on the last 2 ends gave a result of 14-11 to the St Margaret's side. In the Shillington Black v Harpenden Owls game, the Owls took an early 7-2 lead. Shillington responded with a run of ends to go ahead 10-8. Harpenden outscored Shillington in the next 4 ends and the teams were tied 12-12 with the final end to play. Harpenden scored the single they needed to win 13-12 and the Owls top Division 2 after 2 games.
The closeness of the results in this year's Barnet League are reflected in the league tables. Only 3 of the 14 sides are unbeaten after just 2 games and the prospect is for an exiting season ahead.
