The County Mixed Fours Championship and National Qualifier was held on Saturday 23rd November at Jimmy Mac's in Hatfield. Eight teams took part, split into two groups with first and second places going through to the semi-finals.

In the first semi-final, Alan & Margaret Hare and Dennis and Alexis Mack took on Tony & Jeannette Gayler, Jan Rogers and Peter Griffiths. The Hares and Macks quickly took a lead of 7 - 0 with a six on the second end; however, the opposition fought back to get level prompting the Hare/Mack team to change order - the change worked and they went on to win by 14 shots to 9.

The second semi-final was a very close run match going down to the last shot of the final end. with Brian & Audrey Fowler and Robin & Jill Quarterman beating Brian McGivern, Alan Spicer, Mary Chadd and Pauline Taylor by one shot, 9 - 8!

The final was very keenly fought in a very friendly and good natured spirit but Brian, Audrey, Robin and Jill had the edge throughout and ran out winners by 13 shots  to 8.

Third place went to Tony, Jeanette, Mary and Jan who were awarded a walk-over in the 3rd place play-off.

The two finals teams should be invited to the National Finals next Spring.

The event was very well organised by Alexis Mack who received an enthusiastic ovation at the  end of a very long day.
