Hertfordshire join North Yorkshire in the ‘Annual’ match against Norfolk over 60’s

Thirteen members of Hertfordshire travelled up to Huby (careful, there’s two of them) near Easingwold in Yorkshire to take part in the Norfolk over 60’s V Yorkshire Select weekend. Hertfordshire members joined the Yorkshire Select squad in a match that had been rolled over from 2020. In the superb Galtres Centre in Easingwold the main match took place on Saturday. With sixteen triples in each team the match was played on eight mats over seven ends. With each team getting four games over the day the victory went to Norfolk, winning 73 – 55 and retaining the shield which they also won at the previous game held in Norfolk in 2019.

The Sunday saw a fun game where all the number two Norfolk players swapped teams with the Yorkshire number two’s. The format remained the same with a prize going to the top triple for each county.

This was an enjoyable weekends bowling, both teams stayed at The Burn Hall hotel in Huby where we had a chance to enjoy the company of all the bowlers in the evenings.

Our thanks go to Arthur Jackson of Yorkshire for inviting us and to Mick Thrush for organising all of the accommodation. We have all been invited to next years match which will be held on the weekend of the 12/13th August in Norfolk.
