   Week 11

 

The Barnet League continues with all four games being played this week.

Division One

Shillington Whites team of Paul, Julia and Trevor played Northiam Easts Mike, Margaret and Jan. East started this game by taking a single on the first end. White came straight back taking a single followed by a double and the lead at 3 – 1 after three ends. East then held a triple and following this with two singles, they had the lead back at 6 – 3 after six ends. White held end seven for a single, only to see East take the following six ends for two singles, a triple, two doubles and a further single to go 16 – 4 up with two ends to play. The last two ends saw White take a bit of control, taking them both for singles, although East had a good win at 16 – 6.

Mat four saw a game between the two Greenwood teams. Peckers Audrey, Mark and Darren played Hawks Barry, Brian McGivern and Dennis. Peckers drew first blood, taking a single and followed it with a triple and a double to go 6- 0 up after three ends. Hawks then got on the card by taking a single. However, Peckers reply was to take a double on end five to be 8 – 1 up.   Hawks came back strong taking a four, to see Peckers hold end seven for a single. Hawks attacked again, taking a triple followed by a single, making it all square at nine all after nine ends. Hawks then took a single and the lead at 10 – 9. Peckers fought back taking a four followed by a single and a double, regaining the lead at 16 – 13 with two ends to play. The penultimate end went Hawks way for a double, leaving them only one shot behind. Peckers sealed the game taking the last end for a triple, beating their stable mates 19 – 15.

Division two

Bush Hill Blues team of Terri, Jack and Roger played Letchworth Pumas Andrew, Alan and Alexis. Pumas started wel,l with a double followed by a single and a four to be 7 – 0 up after three ends. Blues took end four for a double, only to see Pumas come back taking a five followed by a single and be 13 – 2 up after six ends. Blues then reduced the deficit, taking a single and a double. Pumas replied taking two doubles, increasing their lead to 17 – 5. Pumas fought back taking end eleven for a triple, only to see Pumas take the following three ends for singles, maintaining their twelve shot lead at 20 – 8 with one end to play. Blues held the last end for a single. However, Pumas had a good win at 20 – 9.

Harpenden Eagles team of Geoff, Denise and Gordon played Letchworth Lions Judith, Alan Spicer and Ivor. Lions started this game by taking a double, to which Eagles reply was to take a triple and the lead at 3 – 2 after two ends. Lions then reclaimed the lead, taking a four followed by a double to go 8 – 3 up after four ends. Eagles then started a short run, taking two singles and a double to be within one shot of Lions, at 7 – 8 down after seven ends. Lions then increased their lead. By taking a double, a triple and a single, they were 14 – 7 up after ten ends. Eagles then started a comeback. Taking a single, a double and a single, they were within three shots with two ends to play. Eagles followed this on end fourteen with a triple, bringing the match level at 14 all with one end to play. In a close final end Lions held on for a single shot and the win at 15 – 14.

With only one more week before Christmas the positions on both tables remain unchanged from last week. Next week Division one sees Tigers playing to see if they can break their duck, although White may have something to say about that. Division two has Reds playing, can they finish this year with their unbeaten record.
