Barnet League Week 14

Welcome back everyone after our Christmas break The Barnet League continued this week with four games being played.

Division One

Northiam East’s team of Martin, Jan and Jeff played Greenwood Hawk’s Barry, Brian M and Dennis. Hawks started well with a double followed by a single. East then got on the scorecard with two singles. Hawks replied by taking a further single. They followed this with a triple to go 7 – 2 up after six ends. East then took a run of three singles to reduce Hawks lead to 7 – 5. Hawks extended their lead by taking two singles only to see East take a double on end twelve and bring Hawks lead back to two shots at 9 – 7. The last three ends all went Hawks way. Taking a triple and two singles they took the win at 14 – 7.

Shillington Black’s team of Brenda, Clive and Toni played there club mates Shillington White’s Paul, Julia and Trevor.  White started well taking a double. Black matched this with a double of their own and followed it with a single. White then replied with a further double and the lead at 4 – 3 after four ends. The lead then changed back to Black as they took a double on the following end. White then started a short run, taking a single and two doubles they regained the lead at 9 – 5 after eight ends. Black came back for a double on end nine. The following two ends went for a single apiece followed by a further single to Black. With three ends to go White had a lead of 10 – 9. White held the last three ends for a double and two singles giving them the win at 14 – 9.

Division Two

Harpenden Eagle’s team of Trevor, Jeff and Gordon played Letchworth Puma’s Andrew, Alan H and Alexis. Eagles started by taking the first end for a single. Pumas replied taking a triple and followed this with two singles. Eagles then took end five for a single. Pumas came back taking two doubles and a single giving them a 10 – 2 lead after eight ends. Eagles then went on the attack taking a double and a triple to reduce Pumas lead to 10 – 7 after ten ends. Pumas held the following end for a single. Eagles then took two further singles to reduce Pumas lead to 11 – 9 with two ends to play. The penultimate end saw Pumas take a four. They followed this with double to take the win at 17 – 9.

Shillington Red’s team of Tom, Carol and Neil played Bush Hill Blue’s Roger, Jack and Darren. Reds started well taking two singles and a double. Blues replied taking tow singles followed by a triple and they were 5 – 4 up after six ends. Reds regained the lead by taking the next two ends for singles. Blues then levelled it with a single, they followed this with a triple to be 9 – 6 up after ten ends. Reds reduced the deficit taking a double. Blues came straight back taking a single to be 10 – 8 up with three ends to play. The following two ends went for a single apiece, so going into the last end Blues had a two shot lead at 11 – 9. The last end was played and Reds held two shots making it a draw at 11 all.

 

As the Barnet league continues into 2023 we see little movement in the tables this week. Next week sees the top three teams in Division one playing. Division two and the Reds have again maintained their unbeaten record. With three matches in division two next week we may well see some movement in that table.
