Week eight of the Barnet League.

 Division one

Greenwood Peckers Audrey, Brian and Mark played Shillington Red’s Tom, Carol and Neil. Peckers started strongly with a five and they followed this with a four. Red then took end three for a double. The following two ends went for a single apiece then Red scored a second double to reduce their deficit to 5 – 10 after six ends. Peckers came back on end seven for a triple. Although Red then held a single, Peckers took three ends in a row for a single and two doubles to be 18 – 6 up after eleven ends. Red’s came back on end twelve for a four. Peckers then took a double and although Red’s replied with a single on the penultimate end Peckers took the win at 22 – 11 after taking the last end for their fourth double.

Division two

St Margaret’s Mars Jim, Derek and Tony G played Letchworth Tigers Judith, David M and Margaret. Tigers started with a single to which Mars replied for a double. Tigers then held end three for a four and followed this with a triple and a single for a 9 – 2 lead after five ends. With the following two ends going for a single apiece Tigers were maintaining their seven shot lead. Mars then took two singles in a row. Tigers came back for a single which Mars then matched, they followed this with a five and had bought the score back to evens, eleven all after twelve ends. Tigers pulled back ahead with a single on end thirteen only to see Mars hold the last two ends for singles and the win at 13 – 12.

Harpenden Eagles Trevor, Pauline and Denise played Northiam West’s Margaret, Jeff and Brian. Eagles got this game started by taking a single. West then pulled ahead taking a double followed by a single. Eagles replied taking by two singles and it was all square at three all after five ends. West then took the lead with a triple. Eagles came back for a double but West matched this on end eight and then took a further double on end nine to go 10 – 5 in the lead. With the following two ends going for a double each West were maintaining their five shot lead. West now pulled ahead taking another double and a single to be 15 – 7 up with two ends to play. Eagles held the last two ends for singles but West had the win at 15 – 9.

Peckers win moves them to tied top spot in the first division with their teammates Hawks. Red’s loss puts them in mid table with two other teams only separated by shot difference although they have played more games than anyone else in the top division. The second division sees three teams fighting for top spot, only separated by shot difference.

Barnet League Cup Information

Following last weeks Barnet League Cup results, the next round fixture dates are now available. These will be played alongside the Barnet League on Tuesday evenings at Hatfield. Although they are on the website I will list them here.
