This week we had three games played at Hatfield in our Barnet League. With all three Greenwood teams getting an outing how will our table be affected this week?
Mat one had Greenwood Hawks Barry, Val and Mark playing Greenwood Kites Malcolm, Angie and Maz. Kites flew high and started with a single and followed on with a second. Hawks then came to the mat and held a triple and followed that with a single. Kites gained height on end five for a third single to reduce their deficit to one shot after five ends. Hawks replied by taking two singles and a triple for a 9 – 3 lead. Kites fought back, taking a single and a double they had reduced Hawks lead to 9 – 6 after ten ends. Hawks then held a single which Kites matched. Hawks held another single and again Kites matched it the following end. The last end and Hawks held a final double to take the win at 13 – 8.
Mat two and Fairfield Falcons Bev, Gill A and Neil were looking for another win playing Harpenden Eagles Andrew, Malcolm and Brian. Eagles got started with two singles. Falcons swooped in and took the lead with a massive five on end three. Eagles came back for a third single on end four but Falcons replied by taking a double followed by a four and a single for a 12 – 3 lead after seven ends. Eagles flew in and held a double, following that with two triples and a single they had pulled it right back to twelve all with four ends to play. Falcons went back on the attack, holding a double and two singles they had a four shot lead going into the last end. Eagles flew up again and took the last end for a single but Falcons had another win at 16 – 13.
Mat three and Greenwood Peckers Penny, Colin and Brian were playing Letchworth Lions David M, Alan S and Alan H. Lions started with two singles and followed on with a double, four more singles and a four for a 12 – 0 lead at the half-way stage. Peckers then held their first end for a double. Lions came back for a single but Peckers held another double and a triple to reduce Lions lead to 13 – 7. Lions attacked again, taking the last three ends for a single and two doubles they had the win at 18 – 7.
This week’s win sees Letchworth Lions climb up the table to second place. Fairfield Falcons and Greenwood Hawks are just below them in joint third but its Northiam East who maintain that top spot. Lions get a rest next week but with East, Falcons and Hawks all playing how will our table get shaken up next week?
See you all next week.
Best Wishes from the Webmaster.👀
