To All Players,

As the ESMBA Central Area Manager for Umpires covering Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London it is my remit to encourage more club players to become fully qualified Umpires.

With this in mind I am looking to recruit at least two Umpires in each registered club within both Counties. This will help players to understand and correctly interpret the rules of short mat bowls. It will also give the players a chance to practice measuring and how to use the equipment properly.

The course will be run at St. Margaret's SMBC and is open to all club players who are interested in Umpiring and it is also the first steps to becoming an ESMBA registered Umpire. At this stage there is no exam, but if you take it further there will be a written, practical and oral examination.

Once you qualify your Umpiring world is your oyster you will be able to officiate at Club, League & County. Then after a few years of experience National and if selected International level.

Cost of the course will be £3 (2x £1.50 per session) this will include Tea, Coffee & Biscuits.

Once I have a list of names from clubs, I will arrange the dates for early next year and depending on numbers may run further courses.
