Diana Davies, Tony Smith, Gordon Burrow and Liz Bradley (designated Hertfordshire 1 for this competition) missed out on qualification for the main knockout stage on shots difference.  Norfolk 2 dominated their group with the other three teams all finishing on 2 points.  For the first time, the ESMBA introduced a consolation plate event for teams finishing in 3rd and 4th place in their groups.  The four from Harpenden just lost their opening game in the plate.

Jill Oakes, Pauline Taylor, Brian McGivern and Darren Stanford (Hertfordshire 2) fared better, winning all three of their qualifying games to finish top of their group.  They won their opening knockout game against Devon 1 and only went out of the competition at the quarter final stage.
