Northants 18 Herts 22

09 Oct 2016

Hertfordshire had 3 debutants playing in the away game at Daventry.  Bill Geering, David Richards and Alan Spicer all competed in the fours discipline and they each contributed points to a winning 22-18 margin.

The singles once more performed very well.  Michael West won both of his games for maximum points again, and Alan Hare won his first game.  Their accumulated scores secured the singles bonus points comfortably.

Both pairs (Pauline Taylor and Darren Stanford/Tony and Jeanette Gayler) had one win and one loss whilst Jill Oakes, Mary Chadd and Brian McGivern scored 4 points in the triples.  The other triple of Adrianne West, Liz Bradley and Brian Fowler kept their games close enough to take the 2 bonus points from this discipline.

The morning session of fours saw both Herts rinks posting wins.  Rebecca Nightingale, Margaret Hare, Sam Salmon and Bill Geering won by 5 shots whilst David Richards, Eileen Prior, Alan Spicer and Ted Nolan pipped their opponents by a single shot.  The fours weren't as successful in their second session and missed out on their bonus points by just 3 shots overall.

Next up for Hertfordshire is the return fixture against Northamptonshire at Elm Court on 23 October.
