On Thursday 19th September, four Hertfordshire players were successful in the prestigious "Over 55" Games held at the Copper Box Arena in  London's Olympic Park. Northiam bowlers, Jeff Branch, Jan Rogers and Ted Ely, along with last minute substitute, Tony Gayler from St Margaret's, represented the London Borough of Barnet against 11 other London Boroughs in the Short Mat Bowls Fours' section of the Games. The Barnet team comfortably won all three of their "round robin" matches against strong opposition from Camden, Sutton and Hillingdon; they were then successful against Greenwich in the semi-finals before going on to beat last year's winners, Banstead and Harrogate, in the final to take the title. Well done Barnet!! Well done Herts!!
