Barnet League week three and the competition hots up

Hello to all you Barnet League bowlers and followers. Week three and the competition is well under way.

 

Division 1

Cuffley Gin played Northiam East. East got off to a good start taking the first two ends for doubles. Gin then took a single however East came straight back and took a further double. Gin now started a come back taking a double, a single and a further double to level the match at six shots all after seven ends. East now took a single to take a small lead but Gin now stepped up the pressure taking a three and two singles. East came back for a single but now on end twelve Gin had a lead of 11 – 8. Ends twelve and thirteen went for a single each. With Gin taking the last end for a three they had the win at 15 – 9.

Shillington Black played Shillington White. Black started with a single, White replied with one of their own. Black then took two successive singles. With ends five and six going for a single each in this match of singles Blacks had a lead of 4 – 2. Ends seven and eight were again shared with a shot each. End nine saw Whites take a three and the lead at 6 – 5. They followed this with a five and increased their lead to 11 – 5. Ends eleven to fourteen all went Black’s way with two singles and two doubles. So with one end to play the score was level at 11 shots each. The last end was taken by Black for a single. Winning the battle of the Shillington’s it was Black’s match at 12 – 11.

Division 2

Shillington Red played St Margaret’s Wizards. Red’s started this match taking a single, they followed this with a double and a four going 7 – 0 up after three ends. Red’s winning streak continued and by end twelve, in a complete reversal of last weeks match they had a commanding 25 – 0 lead. End thirteen saw Wizards break their duck and take a triple. Red’s took the penultimate end for a single. Wizards took the last end for a further triple. With a comprehensive 26 – 6 win Red’s have climbed up the table from last to third.

Greenwood Eagles played Cuffley Tonic. Eagles started taking two singles and a double. Tonic took end four for four shots to level the match. They followed this with two doubles. Eagles took a single on end seven but Tonic came straight back taking a triple and two more singles and a further triple giving them a strong lead of 16 – 5. Ends twelve and thirteen saw Eagles take two singles but Tonic replied taking end fourteen for a three. Although Eagles won the last end for a single Tonic had a good win of 19 – 8

With two Shillington teams at the top of division one and Shillington Red climbing up the table in division two what will next week bring? Watch this space.
