Hello to all you Barnet League followers. Week fourteen and we are still using five mats to catch up our missed games. This time we had three first Division matches and two Division two matches.

 Division one

Cuffley Gin played St Margaret’s Rarebits. Rarebits got started by taking a double with Gin coming straight back taking their own double to level the score. This was now repeated with both teams taking a single, to make the score 3 all after four ends. Rarebits then turned up the heat taking a four followed by a hotshot six, a single and a double to go 16 – 3 up after eight ends. Gin sneaked in for a single. However, Rarebits continued the onslaught taking three singles, a double and a treble to go 24 – 4 up with one end to play. Gin revived themselves to take a single on the last end but Rarebits had the resounding win of 24 – 5.

Shillington Black played Northiam East. Black got on the scorecard first taking a double. Facing the right way, East came straight back, taking a small lead with a triple. Black now took their own triple but again East restored their lead by taking a further triple and a 6 – 5 lead. Both teams then took a hard fought single. Black came in for a double and the lead at 8 – 7. Both teams then took a single with Black retaining their small lead of 9 – 8 after nine ends. East came in for a single to level the match after ten ends. Black then took a triple and a good lead. Ends twelve and thirteen went for a single apiece, with Blacks retaining their three shot lead. The last two ends saw East take two singles, reducing Black’s lead but still taking the win by a single shot at 13 – 12.

Greenwood Peckers played Shillington White. Although Peckers started with a single White replied taking two doubles. Peckers again took a nibble for a single. However with White replying by taking a triple and a five they had a healthy lead of 12 – 2 after six ends. Peckers had another nibble taking end eight for a double, although White matched it taking a double of their own and a reasonable lead of 14 – 4. Peckers now feeling hungry, got their heads down taking two singles, a double and a triple to narrow White’s lead to 14 – 11 after twelve ends. White then got the upper hand, taking a double and a single to gain an eight shot lead with one end to play. Peckers controlled the last end by taking four shots and narrowing White’s lead.
