Week two and the Barnet League continues giving our remaining four teams their first match.
Division one
Northiam East played Letchworth Tigers. The first end saw East start with a triple followed by a single. Tigers now got on the scorecard taking their own triple to bring the score back to 4 – 3 to East after three ends. East then increased their lead taking two doubles. Tigers followed this by taking three singles to reduce East’s lead to 8 – 6 after eight ends. End nine was declared a draw. End ten and Tigers held on for a single to reduce their deficit to one shot. East now took end eleven for a double and increased their lead to three shots. Tigers took end twelve for the first four of the match and took the lead at 11 – 10 after twelve ends. East instantly replied with a ‘Hotshot’ six to regain the lead at 16 – 11 with two ends to play. Tigers took the penultimate end for a triple to reduce East’s lead to two shots. Tigers took the last end for a single, however East had the win at 16 – 15
Shillington Black played Greenwood Peckers. Black started by taking the first two ends for singles. Peckers now got into a run taking three singles, two doubles and a triple to go 10 – 2 up after eight ends. Black then took end nine for a triple to reduce Peckers lead to five. Peckers then took two doubles and an increased lead of 14 – 5 after eleven ends. Black came back taking a single, Peckers replied taking a single and a triple to go 18 – 6 up with one end to play. Black held the last end for a single, however Peckers had the win at 18 – 7.
Division two
Harpenden Eagles played Shillington Red. Red started well taking the first five ends for a single, three doubles and a triple to go 10 – 0 up. Eagles now broke their duck taking end six for a single. Red came straight back taking a double and two more singles before Eagles got on the scorecard again taking end ten taking a triple. Ends eleven and twelve saw both teams take a single. The last three ends all went Red’s way with them taking two more singles and finishing the match with a triple. Red had a comfortable win at 20 – 5
Bush Hill Blues played St Margaret’s Wizards. Our new team Bush Hill Blues took the first end for a single. Wizards replied by taking a double and a single to go 3 – 1 up after three ends. Blues now got started on a run taking three singles, a double and two more singles to give them an 8 – 3 lead after nine ends. Wizards then took a single, however Blues answer was to take a single and a double to increase their lead to 11 – 4 with three ends to go. Wizards held end thirteen for a single, Blues replied taking a double. Wizards held the last end for a single but the damage had been done with Bush Hill Blues taking the win at 13 – 6.
