Barnet League Week Five

The Barnet League continues with three games being played this week.

Division One

Greenwood Peckers team of Audrey, Colin and Darren played Letchworth Tigers Mick, David M and David G. Peckers started well taking the first end for a four. They followed this with a triple then a double and completed the set with a single to go 10 – 0 up after four ends. Tigers then got on the scorecard by wining end five for a single, they then followed this with a double. Peckers restored their ten shot lead by taking a triple, they followed this with a single to go 14 – 3 up after eight ends. Tigers then took two singles. With the following two ends going for a single apiece Peckers were 15 – 6 up after twelve ends. Peckers then took end thirteen for a four. Tigers took the penultimate end for a single but with Peckers holding the last end for a double they had a good win at 21 – 7.

Division Two

Letchworth Lions team of Judith, Sue and Alan Spicer played Bush Hill Blues John, Terri and Roger. Lions took the first three ends for singles. Blues then took two singles of their own. Lions reply was to take a double and a single to have a 6 – 2 lead after seven ends. Blues now applied some pressure taking end eight for five shots and taking a one shot lead at 7 – 6. Lions steadily took the following four ends for singles and a three shot lead. End thirteen and Blues held on for a triple so it was all square at 10 – 10 after thirteen ends. Lions edged in front taking end fourteen for a single. The last end saw Blues hold on for a double and the win at 12 – 11.

Harpenden Eagles team of Val, Diana and Gordon played St Margaret’s Wizards Derek, John and Graham. Eagles started well taking the first end for a four, they followed this with a triple and a second four to go 11 – 0 up after only three ends. Wizards then reduced Eagles lead by taking two doubles. With Eagles taking ends six and seven for singles they then had a nine shot lead at 13 – 4 after seven ends. Wizards now reduced their deficit taking two singles. End ten saw Eagles take a further single and a 14 – 6 lead with five ends to play. End eleven and Wizards held five shots, they followed this with a hotshot six, taking the lead at 17 – 14 after twelve ends. End thirteen and Wizards took a further double to go 19 – 14 up. Eagles held the penultimate end for a single. With Wizards taking the last end for a single they had the win at 20 – 15.
