Barnet League Week Three

Week three of the Barnet League.

Division one

Shillington Red’s Clive, Derek and Neil played Letchworth Pumas Andrew, Mike T and Alan S. Red took the first end for a single which Pumas instantly matched with a single of their own.  Red then pulled ahead taking a double on end three, they followed this with a five followed by a further double to go 10 – 1 up after five ends. Pumas then took end six for a single. Reds came straight back for a single followed by a second five and a triple to go 19 – 2 up after nine ends. Pumas took their third end of the game for another single. Reds replied by taking a double and a single. Pumas held end thirteen for a further single. Reds held the last two ends for singles to take a 24 – 4 win.

Shillington Black’s Trevor, Paul and Julia played Northiam East’s Mike E, Martin and Jan. Black started well taking the first end for a four, they followed this with a double to go 6 – 0 up. East then started a run taking a single followed by a triple, a further single and a double to take the lead at 7 – 6 after six ends. Black now regained the lead with a triple. East then levelled the game at 9 all taking a double on end nine. Black came back to take the lead with a single. East then started a run of ends, taking a triple followed by a double and then a four to storm in the lead at 18 – 10 after twelve ends. With the following two ends going for a single apiece it was 19 – 11 going into the last end. Black held on to the last end for a single but East had the win at 19 – 12.

Division Two

In a St Margaret's derby Mercury played Mars. Mercury’s Rick, Stephen and Jeanette took the first end for a triple. The Mars triple of Vicky, Jim and Tony replied taking end two for a single. With end three being declared a tied end it was 2 – 1 after three ends. Mercury took end four for a single and followed this with two doubles. With the following two ends going for a single apiece Mercury had the lead at 9 – 2 after eight ends. Mars now held end nine for a single and repeated this on end ten. The following two ends now went Mercury’s way for singles and it was 11 – 4 after twelve ends. Mars held end thirteen for a double but with Mercury taking the last two ends for singles they had the win at 13 – 6.

 

Another interesting week at Barnet. Easts second win in the first division takes them to the top of the table. In the second division Mercury’s win reinforces their top spot. Next week we have a Greenwood derby in the first division. With Mercury having a rest week will they get knocked of their top spot in the second division.
