The day started brightly for the three Hertfordshire pairs with two comfortable wins and a draw.  Adrianne and Michael West won their opener by 15 shots before losing by just 1 shot to Dom Reed (Essex and England) and his father.  They were well beaten by the group winners in their final game.

Darren Stanford and Brian McGivern had an equally good start with a 12 shot win, then lost by a single shot.  Needing just a tie to progress, they held the necessary 2 shots before the opposing skip drew shot with his final bowl of the game.

Pauline Taylor and Jeanette Gayler drew their first two games and went down 3-6 to clear group winners North Yorkshire.

All three Hertfordshire pairs went into their final group games with a chance to qualify for the knockout stages.
