On Saturday 26th October 2019, Bill Gearing and Brenda Hutty of Shillington Short Mat Bowls Club became Herts Open Pairs Champions when they beat Sam Salmon and Jeff Branch ( Letchworth and Northiam BCs) in the Final.  Bill and Brenda won by 4 shots to 1 in a Final which unfortunately  had to be reduced to 5 ends only because of time constraints. 20 pairs teams took part and the 3rd place play-off was won by Brian and Audrey Fowler of Greenwood Park who beat Alan Hare (Letchworth) and Martin Nash (Cuffley Hall). Hopefully all four teams will get an invitation to the National Finals next Spring.
