The fifth national qualifier competition was held on Saturday at Elm Court. This was the Triples competition. Twelve teams took part with entrants from Bush Hill Park, Shillington, Letchworth, Greenwood, Northiam, St Margaret’s, Harpenden and Cuffley. This competition was played as four groups of three mini round robins. The winners of each group went forward to the Semi Finals.

Julia Bruce, Toni Gearing and Bill Gearing beat Audrey Fowler, Dennis Mack and Brian Fowler
Alan Spicer, Martin Nash and Brian McGivern beat Tony Gayler, Jeff Branch and Jeanette Gayler.
This was followed by the Final and the third place playoff.
The final was won by the team from Cuffley of Alan Spicer, Martin Nash and Brian McGivern with the team from Shillington of Julia Bruce, Toni Gearing and Bill Gearing taking second spot.
The team from Greenwood Park of Audrey Fowler, Dennis Mack and Brian Fowler took the third place.
These three teams have all qualified for a place at the National finals at Melton Mowbray on the 10th April.
Hertfordshire have now been advised of their allocation of places for all six National Qualifiers. We are pleased to announce that we have been allocated three places in five of the disciplines and four places in the Over 55’s pairs.
The last of the six qualifiers, the pairs will be played at Jimmy Mac’s on the 22nd January. A full listing of all Hertfordshire entrants in each competition will be listed in the ‘Pairs’ News Article.
