Barnet League Week Four

The Barnet league continues and week four sees only three games, as a division two match had to be postponed due to illness.

Division One

Shillington Blacks team of Jen, Toni and Bill played Greenwood Hawks team of Barry, Val and Brian McGivern.  Black started well taking two singles, they then took a four and followed this with a further single to go 7 – 0 up after four ends. End five saw Hawks take their first single of the game. Ends six and seven went for a single apiece as did ends eight and nine. Hawks then held the next two ends for doubles and reduced their deficient to 9 – 7 after eleven ends. Black then took control of the following three ends taking a double followed by a triple and a further double to go 16 – 7 up with one end to play. Hawks held on to the last end for a single. Black taking their second win of the season at 18 – 8.

 

Letchworth Tigers team of Mick, David Maryan and Margaret played Shillington Whites team of Paul, Julia and Trevor. White took the first end for a double and followed it with a single. With two bowls resting on the jack end three was declared a dead end and White were 3 – 0 up. Tigers took end four for a double. Whites reply was to take end five for five shots and following this with a double they were 10 – 2 up after six ends. Tigers then reduced Whites lead by taking a four on end seven. White came back by holding end eight for a double and a lead of 12 – 6. Tigers started to reduce Whites lead taking a single followed by a double. End eleven and White held a triple and restored their six shot lead at 15 – 9. Tigers came back for a double on end twelve but with White then holding a single and a double they had a seven shot lead going into the last end. Tigers came back taking the last end for a single, giving White the win at 18 – 12.

Division Two

St Margaret’s Wizards team of Lyn, Brian and John played Letchworth Pumas Alexis, Andrew and Alan. Wizards got going well taking a single and two doubles. Pumas then started a bit of a run, taking a single and two doubles making it five all after six ends. They followed this with a triple and a single to go 9 – 5 up after eight ends. Wizards then held end nine for a single. However, with Pumas taking ends ten and eleven for a double and a triple, they had a 14 – 6 lead with four ends to play. Ends twelve and thirteen went for a single apiece. With Wizards holding the penultimate end for another single, Pumas went into the last end with a seven shot lead. Pumas finished the game by taking the last end for a triple and the win at 18 – 8.
