Barnet League Week 21

   Week 21

 

The Barnet League continued this week with one game in the first division and two in the second division.

 

Division One

Letchworth Tigers David M, David G and Margaret played Greenwood Peckers Darren, Mark and James. Tigers got started with a roar, taking a single followed by a double. Peckers pecked for a double but Tigers roared again to take a further double and go 5 – 2 up after four ends. Peckers pecked again for a further double. Tigers went on the attack again taking a further single and a double to go four shots ahead at 8 – 4 after seven ends. Peckers then reduced their deficit taking a triple, Tigers held a single but with Peckers taking a second triple they had the lead at 10 – 9 after ten ends. Tigers then roared again and levelled the game at 10 all after eleven ends. Peckers then pulled in front with a single and they followed this with a triple. Finishing the game with two fives the Peckers showed why they top the table with a 24 – 10 win.

Division Two

Bush Hill Blues Terri, Roger, and Darren played Letchworth Lions Judith, Andy and Alan S. Lions got on the card first with a single. Blues equalled it with a single of their own and then took the lead with a further single. Lions then went on the prowl, taking a double and two singles they had the lead at 5 – 2 after six ends. With the following two ends going for a single apiece Lions maintained their three shot lead. With yet another single apiece Lions held the lead at 7 – 4 after ten ends. Lions now prowled again leaving Bush Hill feeling Blue, they took the following four ends for singles and an 11 – 4 lead with one end to play. Blues rallied and took the last end for a double but Lions had the win at 11 – 6.

St Margaret’s Wizards Jim, Derek and John played Harpenden Eagles Diana, Geoff and Gordon. Wizards took the first end for a single only to see Eagles soar by taking the second end for a triple. Wizards then conjured up a double to level at three all after three ends. Eagles soared higher by taking the lead with a four. Wizards got the spell book out and took the lead with a five. At this point Wizards lost their wand. Eagles soared higher and higher, taking two triples and a five followed by a single they had a 19 – 8 lead after nine ends. Wizards then got some magic back, taking a single, a double and a triple they had reduced Eagles lead to 19 – 14 with three ends to play. Eagles then got back on the wing by taking a double and a seven shot lead. With the last two ends going for a single apiece, Eagles maintained their seven shot lead to win 22 – 15.

 

With only one game in the first division this week the table remains unchanged. The second division sees Lions climb above their club mates Pumas in the race for second spot. Watch this space for further developments next week.
