   Week 22

 

The Barnet League continued this week with two games in the first division and one in the second division.

 

Division One

Shillington Blacks Jen, Toni and Bill played Shillington Whites Rob, Michelle and Trevor. Whites got of to a good start with a double. Blacks then got running, taking a single followed by a triple they continued their run with two further singles a double and yet another single to go 9 – 2 up after seven ends. Whites then held two doubles to reduce the deficit to 9 – 6. Blacks held a single but with Whites taking a stunning four it was all square at ten all after eleven ends. Black then took the lead with a double and followed it with a single. White reduced blacks lead on the penultimate end to 13 – 12 with a double. Going into the last end with a one shot lead Blacks held a single for a 14 – 12 win over their club mates.

Northiam Easts Jeff, Martin and Jan played Greenwood Hawks Barry T, Brian Mc and Dennis M. Hawks got started by taking two singles, East took end three for a single but with Hawks taking end four for yet another single they had a 3 – 1 lead after four ends. In a tight game East then held two singles to level the game at 3 all after six ends. Hawks pulled in front with a single and then took a two shot lead with the eighth single end. East then held the nineth single of the game, however following it with a triple and a further single they had an 8 – 5 lead after eleven ends. Hawks pulled back taking a double on end twelve to be within one shot of East. Taking ends thirteen and fourteen for yet two more singles East pulled out a short lead of 10 – 7. The last end went to Hawks with the thirteenth single of the game, giving them the win at 10 – 8.

Division two

Harpenden Eagles Beryl, Denise and Gordon played Letchworth Pumas Mike T, Andrew and Alan H. Eagles started with a triple and followed it with a single. Pumas then took a single and following it with a triple it was four all after four ends. Eagles then took the lead with a single, following with a five and two further singles they had a 12 – 4 lead after eight ends. With the following two ends going for a single apiece Eagles were maintaining their eight shot lead. Pumas then held end eleven for a double, however Eagles soared, taking the next end for a five they had an 18 – 7 lead with three ends to play. Pumas fought back by taking a single, they then finished by taking the last two ends for triples but the damage had been done and Eagles had their forth win at 18 – 14.

The first division sees Shillington Black beat club mates Shillington White for the first time this season moving them out of the relegation zone. Northiam East maintains their second place following their win over Hawks. However second place is still up for grabs. In the second division Eagles win keeps Pumas in third place, with the two Letchworth teams playing each other next week who knows who will finish in second place.
