   Week 24

 

The Barnet League continued this week with two games in the first division and one in the second division.

 

Division One

Shillington Whites Michelle, Rob and Trevor played Greenwood Peckers Colin, Mark and Darren. Peckers started well by taking two doubles. White replied by taking a triple on end three. Peckers then started a run of ends, taking a single, two doubles, three triples and two fours they had a substantial lead of 26 – 3 after eleven ends. Whites held end twelve for a triple and the following two ends went for a single apiece. Finishing off with a hotshot six Peckers had the win at 33 – 7.

Shillington Blacks Brenda, Toni and Bill played Northiam Easts Mike, Jan and Jeff. East started with a four and followed this with a single and a further four to go 9 – 0 up after three ends. Black held end four for a single only to see East come straight back for a single and two doubles for a 14 – 1 lead after seven ends. Black held the following end for a triple. East then took a single , with the following two ends going for a single apiece it was 16 – 5 with four ends to play. East then took a double followed by a triple. The penultimate end saw Black hold on for a double. With East holding the last end for a final single they had the win at 22 – 7.

Division Two

Letchworth Lions Judith, Sue and Ivor played Shillington Reds Derek, Carol and Neil. Reds got started taking a triple, they followed this with a single and then took a hotshot six to go 10 – 0 up after three ends. Lions took a single. With the following two ends going for a single apiece it was 11 – 2 after six ends. With the next two ends also going for a single each it was 12 – 3. Lions then started to catch up, taking four singles they had reduced Reds lead to 12 – 7. With end thirteen being declared tied it was still 12 – 7 with two ends to play. Lions held their winning run taking a further single and finishing with a double. Reds however had managed to hold on for the win at 12 – 10.

 

With the Division one title won by Greenwood Peckers with a score of 26 points second place is still up for grabs. If Greenwood Hawks can win their last two matches then they could overtake Northiam East for second spot. In the relegation zone both Shillington teams are fighting it out to stay in the first division. Next week sees both teams playing again when this could be decided. The top spot in Division two has already been taken by Shillington Red. This week sees Letchworth Pumas secure second place with 16 points beating their teammates Letchworth Lions by one point. Bush Hill Blues with two games still to play could move into fourth spot.
