Week 25
The Barnet League concludes this week with two games in the first division and one in the second. The last two remaining games being conceded at a score of 15 – 0.
Division One
Greenwood Hawks Barry, Val and Dennis played Shillington Blacks Jen, Toni and Bill. Black took the first end for a single. Hawks replied taking a double followed by a triple and a single to go 6 - 1 up after four ends. Black came back on end five for a single only to see Hawks take a triple on end six. With the following two ends going for a single apiece it was Hawks in the lead at 10 – 3 after eight ends. Hawks then took a run of three singles which Black matched with a triple on end twelve making it 13 – 6 to Hawks. Hawks continued with two further singles and then finished the game and their season with a hotshot six taking the win at 21 – 6
Shillington Whites Trevor, Michelle and Julia played Letchworth Tigers David M, David G and Margaret. Tigers started well with a triple. White then took a single but Tigers came straight back taking two singles and a double to be 7 – 1 up after five ends. Whites held end six for a single, Tigers then held two singles and increased their lead to 9 – 2. Whites then held a single and followed it with a four to be back in the game at only 7 – 9 down. End eleven saw tigers hold a triple, following this with two singles they had increased their lead to 14 – 7 with two ends to play. Whites held the penultimate end for a single. Tigers finished the game and their season taking a four on the last end giving them the win at 18 – 8.
Division Two
Shillington Reds Tom, Carol and Neil played Bush Hill Blues Terri, Roger and Darren. Reds got on the scorecard first taking a single followed by a double. Blues replied taking a double but Reds came straight back for a triple and a 6 – 2 lead after four ends. The Blues then took a run of seven ends. Taking three singles, two doubles and two triples they had turned it round and were 15 – 6 up after eleven ends. Reds then held a single. The following two ends then went for a single apiece. With Blues taking the last end for a single they had beaten this year’s division two winners with a score of 17 – 8.
As another exciting year of the Barnet League comes to its end we see the winners of Division one are Greenwood Peckers. With the Hawks taking second spot it has certainly been Greenwood’s year. Division two winners Shillington Red see Letchworth Pumas take second spot.
Whilst we are all waiting for September and the new season, lets not forget that we will be running our summer season ‘Aussie Pairs’ at Hatfield on Tuesday nights. Get those entry forms in so that Margaret can get the fixtures completed ready for the start in May.
